Week 3 picks

Good news folks, I posted a winning record last week. I’ll take the one game improvement. Lets get the ball rolling for week 3.

Patriots (1-1) over Bills (0-3)

The Bills waited till week three to make their quarterback change. Too bad it won’t help them get any closer to a win. Look for the Brady Bunch to dominate.

Chiefs (2-0) over 49ners (0-2)

Arrowhead Stadium is a very dangerous place for opposing teams to play in. From the looks of things, the Niners still have more work to do than they thought. This one may come down to the wire.

Vikings (0-2) over Lions (0-2)

Who had the Vikings starting out the year 0-2? The Lions will be pesky in this game but look for Favre to rebound from his four turnover game a week ago.

Saints (2-0) over Falcons (1-1)

My heart says Falcons but my brain says Saints.

Titans (1-1) over Giants (1-1)

The Titans have the leagues best running back and best defense against one of the most overrated “stars” in the NFL.

Steelers (2-0) over Bucs (2-0)

The Steelers will kick the Bucs off their cloud and return to reality. That quarterback matchup is just…rough.

Bengals (1-1) over Panthers (0-2)

Its going to be a very long first career start for Jimmy Clausen. Carolina can not establish the running game or figure out who will be the guy to take pressure off of Steve Smith

Texans (2-0) over Cowboys (0-2)

This will be a shootout but Houston’s offense is so much better than the Boys.

Redskins (1-1) over Rams (0-2)

Look for Clinton Portis to show he still has it. We’ll see if that defense can stop running their mouths and keep the Rams out of the endzone.

Eagles (1-1) over Jaguars (1-1)

I love this matchup for Michael Vick. A dynamic play maker against the leagues worst pass defense. He will run and throw his way to dominance.

Colts (1-1) over Broncos (1-1)

The Colts are 7-2 since 2001 against the Broncos. Plus…Peyton Manning > Kyle Orton

Raiders (1-1) over Cardinals (1-1)

The Cardinals haven’t shown me enough that I can be confident to see them beating the Raiders who surprisingly aren’t playing all that bad.

Seahawks (1-1) over Chargers (1-1)

The Chargers have the better talent but the Seahawks are in better position to win this game.

Dolphins (2-0) over Jets (1-1)

That incredible Jets defense is banged up and they always struggle in Miami early in the season.

Packers (2-0) over Bears (2-0)

Expect this to be a bruising low scoring game. Possible last minute score or overtime in this one.

Week 2 picks

Week one wasn’t too kind to The Iceman but hey…it’s a new season n we’re still working the preseason bugs out as well. Here are the picks for week two.

Steelers over Titans

All the Steelers will need to do here to stop Tennessee is contain Chris Johnson. And they have the defense capable of doing that.

Dolphins over Vikings

Yes it’s the Vikings home opener and yes it will be loud but Minnesota still has a lot of kinks to work out of their offense. The Wildcat may run wild here.

Falcons over Cardinals

The Cardinals struggled to contain a poor Rams offense. Matt Ryan and company should be able to put up some serious points here in their home opener.

Ravens over Bengals

The Bengals offense struggled against a lack luster Patriots defense. It won’t get any easier this week for the T.O and Ocho show.

Chiefs over Browns

The Chiefs opened their season with a very impressive win over the Chargers and are now showcasing the most dangerous special teams unit in the league

Cowboys over Bears

The Boys would be 1-0 n giving me a winning record if it weren’t for that holding call.

Eagles over Lions

Michael Vick was impressive last week against the Packers and will be even better this week against the Lions. I smell a qb controversy brewing.

Packers over Bills

Two teams going in completely opposite directions. Packers will win big.

Panthers over Bucs

We still don’t know for sure who Carolina’s starting qb is. However, they are a running team and need to get back to that this week.

Seahawks over Broncos

The Hawks showed me a lot last week against the Niners. And who caught that impressive Tebow debut?

Rams over Raiders

There may be a winning team in this game but the real losers here are the fans having to watch such an awful mess of a football game.

Texans over Redskins

Lets see what kind of encore Arian Foster has for us this week. By the way…Houston can pass the ball too.

Patriots over Jets

How is this not the night game? Brady vs. the Jets. I don’t think I’ve ever seen more hate in this rivalry. Too bad the Jets still don’t have an offense.

Chargers over Jaguars

This game will be the Chargers first local blackout since 2004. Its against the Jags. Can you blame them? Give them a few more years and the Jags will be calling Los Angeles home.

Giants over Colts

That’s right I’m getting bold. Giants defense played great last week against a Carolina offense. The Bob Sanders injury will hurt the Colts defense. Wait a sec…this is the Manning Bowl. No wonder it’s the night game.

Saints over 49ners

Maybe Mike Singletary will call a mandatory meeting during halftime when they’re down by three touchdowns.

Week 1 picks

The new season kicks off tonight at the site where we all thought Brett Favre's career ended and the location of a recent tradition in the NFL...letting the Super Bowl champion get to prepare less for a season opening game.

Saints over Vikings

Minnesota is coming in too banged up on the offensive side along with Brett Favre's potential rust to ruin the party of a proud and emotional New Orleans crowd. No overtime needed this time around.

Dolphins over Bills

Its September not December so there is no cold weather to worry about for Miami. And lets face it...the Bills are just laughable this year. The fish take this one easy.

Bengals over Patriots

This is one of the more hyped games of the opening week with T.O. and Ochocinco making a visit to take on the Brady Bunch. I have zero confidence in New Englands defense until they can show me they can make a big play and not get beat by recievers all over the field.

Lions over Bears

Believe it or not the Lions have indeed improved. They will be able to pressure Jay Cutler as he looks to repeat as interceptions champion this season.

Titans over Raiders

There are a lot of people high on the Raiders this year now that Jamarcus Russel is out of the picture. But with Jason Campbell's health in question and two banged up runningbacks the offense may struggle. Plus...can anyone name a wide reciever for the Raiders?

Giants over Panthers

Many try not to take so much from preseason but one thing that will carry over is Carolina's lack of ability to find the endzone. Heres a hint...its usually the larger area at the end of the field that is sometimes a different color.

Falcons over Steelers

This will be a very competitive game and come down to the wire. If this were Big Ben starting I may pick the Steelers at home. But its Dennis Dixon.

Browns over Bucs

Some members of the Browns offense shows promise like they can actually do something in the NFL. Plus Jake Delhomme is very familiar with the Tampa defense.

Jaguars over Broncos

Another game with a who cares mentality to it. The Broncos have too many lost players on defense and no play makers on offense. Thus the win goes to the team with an actual play maker.

Texans over Colts

This is becoming a great divisional rivalry. This will be the year the series gets split with each team winning at home.

Rams over Cardinals

The Cardinals have too many unanswered questions heading into week one and Bradford gets a favorable matchup for his nfl season debut.

Packers over Eagles

Aaron Rodgers and company will have no problems picking apart this defense. Big points will be scored.

49ners over Seahawks

The Pete Carrol era in Seattle ends on a sour note. Welcome back to the pros.

Cowboys over Redskins

McNabb is too banged up to do anything really outstanding and unlike the Panthers, the Cowboys scoring problems wont carry over into week one.

Ravens over Jets

Both teams have great defenses. But only one team has success of putting points up on the board.

Chargers over Chiefs

No LT, No Vincent Jackson. No problem. The Chiefs will put up points but they will struggle to keep the Chargers off the board.

So there you have it for week one. We'll keep track of the records throughout the season and feel free to play along at home. See you for week two.

NFL Season Preview

The weather is getting slightly cooler, the grills are lit, and the face paint is on. Yes America its that time again for another NFL season. Welcome to the Ice Cold Sports 2010 season preview brought by nobody because this show is unsponsored. There are plenty of story lines heading into this season. Will the Jets defense have to try to remain on top without cornerback Darrel Revis. Will Brett Favre give us a final memorable season and go out on top. And can the Saints repeat as Super Bowl champions. Lets dive right into the huddle with the AFC East.

AFC East

*New England Patriots 10-6
*Miami Dolphins- 9-7
New York Jets- 9-7
Buffalo Bills- 2-14

The Patriots still have something neither the Jets or Dolphins have and that’s a dominate quarterback. Tom Brady has been locked in so far this preseason while Chad Henne has struggled and the entire Jets offense struggling to put up points. Where as these three teams will beat each other up during the season, you got to give Tom Brady’s skills to win the big game the advantage.

AFC North

*Baltimore Ravens 11-5
*Cincinnati Bengals 10-6
Pittsburgh Steelers 8-8
Cleveland Browns 4-12

With Big Ben suspended the Ravens and the Bengals are going to want to use that early part of the season to create some separation from the Steelers. The Ravens now have the big time threat receiver they’ve been missing in Anquain Bolden while the Bengals added Terrell Owens and drafted Jermaine Gresham, and Jordan Shipley. With offenses that can put points up and strong defenses, look for it to be a foot race down the stretch.

AFC South

*Indianapolis Colts 11-5
*Houston Texans 9-7
Tennessee Titans 7-9
Jacksonville Jaguars 4-12

The Colts have Peyton Manning so they will be heavily favored in the AFC. But not so fast. If you follow the league close enough you know that a lot of times the Colts have to come up big late to get the win. With having to play the NFC East instead of the West, look for them to be challenged a whole lot more with a yearly improving Houston Texans on their heels.

AFC West

*San Diego Chargers 10-6
Kansas City Chiefs 9-7
Oakland Raiders- 6-10
Denver Broncos- 4-12

The Chargers have held the crown in this division for the last five years and even without Vincent Jackson they should cruise again. Look for the Chiefs and Raiders to improve drastically from over the years while a very unhealthy Broncos teams struggles to score points and keep opponents out of the endzone.

NFC

NFC East

*Dallas Cowboys 10-6
*New York Giants 8-8
Philadelphia Eagles 8-8
Washington Redskins 4-12

With this seasons Super Bowl taking place in Dallas, the Cowboys will be playing with some extra motivation. They have a strong offense and a talented defense in a very even and competitive division but will have to prove they can get it done come January.

NFC North

*Green Bay Packers 12-4
Minnesota Vikings 8-8
Chicago Bears 6-10
Detroit Lions 5-11

Just because Brett Favre is back doesn’t really mean anything in this division. The Vikings are hurting in the passing games with injuries and Favre isn’t in the best condition himself. The Packers look dynamite this year with a prolific offense and a bruising defense. Packers fans should be feeling mighty super heading into this upcoming season

NFC South

*New Orleans Saints 11-5
*Atlanta Falcons 10-6
Carolina Panthers 6-10
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-13

As champions the Saints will have a bigger target on their backs with everybody they play working twice as hard to beat them, just to say they beat the champs. They’ll have some strong competition from the Falcons while it looks like both the Panthers and Bucs will struggle to keep up.

NFC West

*San Francisco 49ners 9-7
Seattle Seahawks 7-9
Arizona Cardinals 5-11
St. Louis Rams 4-12

The west is getting the reputation as the leagues weakest division and with the Cardinals losing their leader in Kurt Warner, a top receiver in Anquain Bolden, Larry Fitzgerald’s preseason knee injury that could linger, they will struggle to find a new identity. It will be glory days again in San Fran as they take this division.

MVP: Aaron Rodgers

The Packers and Ravens seem to be popular picks to make it to Dallas this season as they should be. Both have well balanced offenses and good defenses. It should be an exciting season. And with a lockout looming for 2011...we will need to get our fill of football now. Stay tuned for my week 1 picks. Lets see how good I do this season. Do not hesitate to join me.
